Endre Szabo had a number of well-known admirer's and patrons. Among the most notable owners of Endre Szabo's works in portraiture are the late Sir Winston Churchill, the late former President Richard M. Nixon, the Royal Family of his Imperial Majesty Reza Pahlevi, former Shahenshah of Iran, and the late great American actor and cultural icon John Wayne.
Iconic journalist and radio personality Lowell Thomas was a great admirer, as was automobile magnate Chick Iverson. A number of Endre Szabo's paintings hang in the world famous Binions Casino, home of the World Series of Poker, in Las Vegas, NV, and an original of "The Pirate" hung for many years in the Walt Disney Corporate Headquarters.
John Wayne himself sat for Endre's most famous piece, "Man of the Golden West," the portrait of John Wayne. John Wayne was so impressed that he gave his personal permission for the painting to be reproduced in lithographic print form as offered on this site. Endre Szabo also painted a large portrait of President Richard Nixon and received a letter of praise and thanks from President Nixon.
